Before Canine Exposure
After Canine Exposure and EruptionIn some cases a tooth is developmentally trapped in the jawbone and must be uncovered and exposed so that your orthodontist can pull the tooth into position with braces. The most commonly impacted tooth (other than a wisdom tooth) is the maxillary (upper) canine tooth.
Dr. Paris and Dr. Shumaker provide surgical exposure of impacted teeth and are both experienced in dealing with these challenging situations. In this procedure the gums are gently moved out of the way and repositioned to expose the impacted tooth. In some cases bone removal is necessary to expose the tooth and create a channel or path through which the tooth can erupt.
For more information on Impacted Orthodontic Tooth Exposure please contact Dr Paris and Dr Shumaker's office at 970-207-4061 or ask your orthodontist or general dentist for a referral.
